Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach (1656 – 1723) was among the greatest architects of the Austrian Baroque. Having trained in Rome under Bernini, he went on to design the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, the ‘Versailles’ of the Habsburgs. In Prague, his great achievement is the imposing Clam-Gallas palace.
