Betlémské náměstí (Bethlehem Square) is most famous for its chapel which from 1402 onwards became the de facto base for Jan Hus and his reformist congregations.
Opposite the chapel stands this fine baroque house: the inscription above the gilded statue of the Madonna contains a chronogram giving the date of construction, 1703. It was the birthplace, in 1831, of the painter Jaroslav Čermák (a memorial is set into the wall below).
