Prague Castle: State Rooms

Prague Castle state rooms interior

The rococo interiors of the southern range of the presidential palace are richly decorated in gilded stucco in the manner of the adjacent (and much earlier) Spanish Hall.

The entire wing was part of the classicist reconstruction of the castle which took place from 1755 to 1775 to a plan by Empress Maria Theresa’s court architect, the Austro-Italian Nicolo Pacassi. Pictured here are details of the Hall of Mirrors, open to the public twice a year on significant state occasions.
