Technická 2710/6: National Technical Library
The design for the new National Technical Library was conceived in 2000 by a team of young architects – Roman Brychta, Adam Halíř, Ondřej Hofmeister and Petr Lešek – following the decision to transfer the collection of 1.2 million volumes from their previous home in the Klementinum in the Old Town.
The striking glass-faced building in the shape of a rounded cuboid, its metrical dimensions explicitly stated in massive digits, was constructed from 2006 to 2009 on a plot between the existing Technical University and the Faculty of Architecture.
